Coco, Richard and Marian lead 27th Star Awards for TV
Kapamilya actors Coco Martin, Richard Yap and Kapuso
actress Marian Rivera took home top acting awards at Philippine Movie
Press Club’s (PMPC) 27th Star Awards for TV on Sunday, November 24, at
the AFP Theatre in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
Coco bagged the Best Actor trophy for his primetime fantaserye “Juan dela Cruz,” which also won the Best Primetime Drama Series award. It is Coco’s third Best Actor trophy from the Star Awards for TV. Meanwhile, Richard Yap missed the awards ceremonies.
“Inaalay ko po ito sa lahat ng mga Pilipino, lalo na doon sa mga tumutulong sa (victims) ng bagyo para muling bumangon ang Pilipinas. Maraming salamat po,” Coco said.
Marian took home her first Star Awards Best Actress trophy for the Kapuso teleserye “Temptation of Wife.”
“Hindi pa (nagsink-in). Kpaag andoon ka pala talaga, nakakallimutan mo talaga (i-mention lahat ng pasasalamatan). Tama yung lahat ng mga nominado na manominate ka lang, napakalaking karangalan na. Kasi ang dami-daming artista, depende sa ginagawa mo kung saan ka manonominado,” Marian told the press after the awarding ceremony.
KC Concepcion bagged the Best Supporting Actress award for “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.” Sharon Cuneta’s daughter thanked co-star Judy Ann Santos for being her mentor and ‘sister.’
“She believed in me more than I believed in myself,” KC said during her speech.
The Best Supporting Actor award is a tie between Kapamilya actors Arjo Atayde and Arron Villaflor, who won for “Dugong Buhay” and “Juan dela Cruz,” respectively. Arjo won Star Awards for TV’s Best Male New TV Personality for “Maalaala Mo Kaya: Bangka” last year, while it is Arron’s first acting trophy from the award-giving body.
ABS-CBN and GMA 7 tied in the Best TV Station category.
ABS-CBN received 31 awards, while GMA took home 24 awards.
